First Quadruped Studies
Wang Xingxing developed his first quadruped robot prototypes during postgraduate studies at Shanghai University.
Unitree Robotics Founded
On August 26, 2016, Wang Xingxing registered 'Hangzhou Unitree Technology Co., Ltd.' in a 50 m² office in Binjiang District, Hangzhou. The first product XDog was developed for his master's thesis.
Unitree Go1
Go1 was released as a quadruped robot similar to Boston Dynamics' Spot. With 12 motors each producing 23.7 N·m torque, this platform opened the doors to affordable quadruped robotics.
Go2, H1, B2
Go2 (4D LiDAR + GPT integration), H1 (first humanoid robot, 3.3 m/s world speed record) and B2 (industrial quadruped, 360 N·m torque, IP67) were all unveiled in the same year.
G1 — $16,000
G1 was introduced as an advanced compact version of H1 for mass production. At $16,000, it made humanoid robotics accessible for researchers and developers.
R1, A2, H2 & CES
Go2, Go2-W, B2-W, H1 and G1 were exhibited at CES 2025. R1 (ultra-light quadruped), A2 (industrial quadruped) and H2 (full-size humanoid, $89,900) were released. WIPO Global Awards were won.
IPO Process
In April 2025, South China Morning Post reported Unitree's plans for an IPO in Hong Kong. In July 2025, IPO tutoring process began with CITIC Securities.
