A Wheeled-Legged Platform for Long Galleries

A mine gallery combines two different surfaces in a single mission: kilometres of flat haulage road, broken up by stepped, rubble-strewn passages. A purely legged robot wastes energy on the flat stretches, while a purely wheeled one stops at the step. The Unitree A2-W brings both together in one body: around 25 kg continuous walking load, over 3.5 hours and roughly 35 km of unloaded range from hot-swappable 2 × 9,000 mAh (907.2 Wh) batteries, plus 45 degree slope and 30 cm step capability. The PRO variant adds dual LiDAR for bidirectional perception and raises critical components to IP67, which is what matters in dusty, humid gallery conditions. Swapping batteries between shifts keeps inspection rounds running without interruption.
