Educational and Research Robot Platforms
The models on this page were built to be worked on, not demonstrated: they give access to the motion controller, the layers of the perception stack and the body parameters. The list holds the Pollen Robotics Microduck (a desktop biped for reinforcement learning), the AgiBot X2, the Fourier N1 and GR-1, the Booster T1, the PrimeBOT Q1, the DeepRobotics Lite3 and DR01, and the LimX TRON 1. Some of them are also listed under humanoid or quadruped; they appear here because education and research is how they are positioned.
What decides the choice is what the lab will actually do. Coursework and student projects are served by desktop scale, low setup cost and a safe working area; locomotion control, manipulation or sim2real work needs a full-size body, real joint torque and a simulation chain. Ask for three things in writing before deciding: the scope of the SDK (high-level commands only, or joint-level control), simulation support (MuJoCo, Isaac Sim) and spare-part access. Those three decide whether the robot is on a shelf or in a project in its second year.
