Overview

AgiBot (AGIBOT Innovation (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd.) is a Shanghai-based Chinese company developing general-purpose humanoid robots. The X2 series is its 1.31 m compact humanoid line; summed up as "friendly, agile, intelligent" and offers it in two variants, the base X2 and the fully equipped X2 Ultra.

Shared hardware: a 1310 × 460 × 210 mm body, 120 Nm peak joint torque, walking speed of up to 1.8 m/s (0.8 m/s or less in typical use), 558 mm arm reach, 3 kg payload in specific postures, about 500 Wh of battery for 2 hours of runtime at 0.5 m/s walking, charging in under 1.5 hours, a microphone array, wireless microphone, speaker, expression screen and head touch sensor. The X2, at 35 kg and 25 degrees of freedom, carries an interactive RGB camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The X2 Ultra, at 39 kg and 30 degrees of freedom, adds 3D LiDAR, an RGB-D camera, front dual and rear RGB cameras, an NVIDIA Orin NX (157 TOPS), 4G/5G, extra USB and RJ45 ports, secondary development and an optional auto-charging dock; autonomous navigation and obstacle avoidance are offered only on this variant, with customization.

Three capabilities stand out: multimodal interaction (vision, voice, touch, facial expression), lifelike motion (human-like gait, dance routines, head movement synchronized with speech) and, on the X2 Ultra, autonomous tasks. The box contains the robot, charger, remote controller, microphone, quick start guide and certificate of conformity; the battery ships separately. End effectors (OmniHand, OmniPicker) are compatible only with the X2 Ultra and are purchased separately. The mobile app, OTA updates and quick start guide are in AgiBot's document centre; AgiBot is also accepting channel and solution partner applications for the X2.

For organizations with an X2 requirement we assess sourcing, timing and the alternatives deliverable today (the Unitree G1 in the same height class) transparently.

Affinity: Human-like Interaction

The X2 supports multimodal interaction including vision, voice, touch and facial expression. By integrating the user's gestures, environmental data and contextual information it holds advanced intelligent dialogue, natural and seamless communication across a wide range of scenarios. The face screen shows expressions, and when the head is touched the robot nods or shakes its head in response.

Affinity: Human-like Interaction

Agility: Lifelike Features

Humanoid gait, complex dance routines and head movements synchronized with voice interaction. The X2 series offers 25 to 30 degrees of freedom, including one for the head and three for the waist; this enables versatile, agile motion with vivid, lifelike expression. Peak joint torque is 120 Nm and walking speed reaches 1.8 m/s (0.8 m/s or less in typical use).

Agility: Lifelike Features

Intelligence: Autonomous Tasks (X2 Ultra)

The X2 Ultra uses LiDAR and RGB-D cameras for precise environmental perception and autonomous route planning; with LiDAR, RGB-D, front stereo vision and a rear monocular camera it detects obstacles ahead and proactively adjusts its path. Decision-making is algorithm-driven, with no remote control needed. The base X2 does not support these functions; the X2 Ultra offers them with customization.

Intelligence: Autonomous Tasks (X2 Ultra)

High-Precision Sensor Array

The interactive RGB camera supports facial recognition, object detection, gesture recognition and environmental semantic perception. The RGB-D camera provides precise 3D spatial perception with depth-aware recognition to assist operational decisions (standard on the X2 Ultra). The touch sensor recognizes head contact. The multi-line LiDAR acquires point cloud data that meets the high-precision positioning requirements of 3D SLAM (standard on the X2 Ultra).

Energy and Runtime

A battery of about 500 Wh gives roughly 2 hours of runtime at 0.5 m/s walking. Power comes from direct charging and a swappable battery, with an optional auto-charging dock on the X2 Ultra. Charging takes 1.5 hours or less at 100-220 V input, with a 54.6 V 10 A charger output. The battery ships in separate packaging with its own certificate of conformity.

App, OTA and Development

Both variants ship with a handheld controller, OTA updates and a mobile app; AgiBot provides the app and the quick start guide (3 December 2025) in its document centre. Secondary development is supported only on the X2 Ultra, with 2 × USB-A, 2 × USB-C, 2 × RJ45 and 12 V/48 V power outputs. The OmniHand and OmniPicker end effectors are compatible only with the X2 Ultra, are not included as standard and are purchased separately. AgiBot is also accepting channel and solution partner applications for the X2.

ENGINEERING ANALYSIS

Technical Analysis of the Compact Interaction Robot

X2 or X2 Ultra?

The two variants share the same body, the same 120 Nm torque, the same speed and the same battery; the difference lies in perception and compute. The base X2, with its interaction camera, touch sensor, screen and audio, is an exhibition or classroom robot: it runs from the remote controller and app, does not navigate on its own and is not open to development. The X2 Ultra adds 3D LiDAR, RGB-D and three extra cameras, an Orin NX (157 TOPS), 4G/5G, five extra degrees of freedom from the neck and arm joints, and secondary development support; autonomous navigation is offered only here, with customization. The weight difference is 4 kg.

25 to 30 Degrees of Freedom in a Compact Body

At 1.31 m and 35-39 kg the robot is child-sized, a deliberate choice for eye-level interaction with people. The three-degree-of-freedom waist makes a difference in dance routines and in turning the torso while speaking; the neck joint on the X2 Ultra lets the head move in sync with speech. A 558 mm arm reach and 3 kg in specific postures are enough for presenting objects and light carrying; across the full range the limit is 1 kg.

Energy Budget

The roughly 500 Wh battery gives 2 hours at 0.5 m/s walking; that figure is for continuous walking, and standing interaction lasts longer. The swappable battery and 1.5-hour charge allow an uninterrupted exhibition day to be planned with two batteries. The optional auto-charging dock on the X2 Ultra opens up scenarios in which the robot pauses and recharges itself.

ENGINEERING EVALUATION

Engineering Assessment

What distinguishes the X2 series is the interaction package: the expression screen, head touch sensor, microphone array and three-degree-of-freedom waist make the robot naturally people-facing in an exhibition or classroom. The base X2 does that job from the controller and app; for any project that needs the robot to navigate on its own or to have software developed on it, the choice is the X2 Ultra. The Unitree G1 in the same height class can be ordered in Turkey today, with comparable compute from its Jetson Orin and secondary development; on the other hand the X2's interaction hardware, such as the expression screen and touch sensor, is absent on the G1.
