X-Humanoid Tien Kung Omni

Compact Humanoid Robot as an Open Development Platform

The X-Humanoid Tien Kung Omni is a compact humanoid and open development platform standing 135 cm and weighing 39.5 kg. It carries 31 degrees of freedom: 6 per leg, 7 per arm, 3 in the waist and 2 in the neck. The flagship edition can run end-to-end vision-language-action models on the robot itself through a 2070 TFLOPS AI domain controller. Three interface layers are open, covering joints and sensors, the system and the motion control API, and it connects to the Huisi Kaiwu secondary development platform. A depth camera, LiDAR and a high-precision IMU support standing, walking, running, obstacle crossing and mobile manipulation. The body carries IP53 protection, a lifespan beyond 15,000 hours and can right itself after a fall. Robotlar.org assesses sourcing and alternatives together with organizations that have an Omni requirement.

Overview

The X-Humanoid Tien Kung Omni is the compact humanoid and open development platform from the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center. The aim is to take a small humanoid out of the lab and into research, education and industrial scenarios.

Hardware highlights: 135 cm tall, 39.5 kg and 31 degrees of freedom (6 per leg, 7 per arm, 3 in the waist, 2 in the neck). The flagship edition carries a 2070 TFLOPS AI domain controller and allows an end-to-end vision-language-action model to run on the robot itself. The perception package consists of a depth camera, LiDAR and a high-precision IMU, supporting standing, walking, running, obstacle crossing and mobile manipulation.

The body carries an IP53 protection rating with a designed lifespan beyond 15,000 hours, and the robot recovers autonomously after a fall; the operating range is -10 °C to 40 °C. Three layers are open to developers, covering joints and sensors, the system and the motion control API, and the platform connects to the Huisi Kaiwu secondary development environment.

Four use areas are listed: research and education, guiding and performance, home and eldercare, and industrial scenarios. Robotlar.org for organizations with an Omni requirement we assess sourcing, timing and the alternatives deliverable today transparently.

Motion Control Video

The motion control video shows the Omni standing, walking, running and crossing obstacles. A depth camera, LiDAR and a high-precision IMU work together to support high-dynamic motion and generalised locomotion.

Autonomous Task Video

The autonomous task video shows the robot working in an office setting. The 2070 TFLOPS AI domain controller on the flagship edition is enough to run an end-to-end vision-language-action model on the robot, which makes task execution possible without a cloud connection.

Three-Layer Open Interface

Three layers are open to developers: joints and sensors, the system, and the motion control API. The platform connects to the Huisi Kaiwu secondary development environment and ships with a data collection system and tooling. That structure targets developer scenarios ranging from university research to secondary school competitions and vocational college training.

Three-Layer Open Interface

Research and Education

The first use area targets universities, research institutes, secondary schools and vocational education: secondary development for scientific research, competition development and hands-on training on a real robot. Deployment, commissioning, maintenance and after-sales training are covered within that scope.

Research and Education

Guiding and Performance

For venues such as science centres, exhibitions, museums and stores, the platform supports guiding interaction, mobile wayfinding and basic performance. The aim is to raise the service experience and the impact of a technology showcase.

Guiding and Performance

Durability and Recovery

The body carries an IP53 protection rating with a designed lifespan beyond 15,000 hours. After a fall or tip-over the robot can recover and stand up autonomously, and the operating range is -10 °C to 40 °C. Together these target continuous use in real environments outside the lab.

ENGINEERING ANALYSIS

Technical Analysis of a Compact Open Platform

What 135 cm and 39.5 kg Mean

The Omni weighs a little over half of a full-size humanoid. That means a body one person can carry in a lab and one that does less damage to itself and its surroundings in a fall. At the same time its 31 degrees of freedom match most full-size models: 6 joints per leg and 7 per arm are enough to study real humanoid motion in teaching and competition scenarios. The price of the smaller body is paid in payload, and no payload figure is published.

Why 2070 TFLOPS Matters

The AI domain controller on the flagship edition delivers 2070 TFLOPS, a budget sufficient to run an end-to-end vision-language-action model on the robot itself. In practice that means task execution needs neither a cloud connection nor a workstation placed beside it, so network latency and dropped connections leave the equation.

Open Interfaces and the Education Scenario

The three-layer open interface is what matters for educational institutions. The joint and sensor layer allows low-level control experiments, the system layer covers the operating environment, and the motion control API allows application development on top of a ready motion library. In a university course those three layers mean three levels of assignment. IP53 protection and a 15,000-hour designed lifespan extend the robot's life in a multi-user lab, while autonomous recovery after a fall reduces the supervision burden during class.

ENGINEERING EVALUATION

Engineering Assessment

What sets the Omni apart is putting a full-size-class compute budget and open interfaces into a compact body. For education and research, three-layer openness together with IP53 protection is meaningful: a platform that leaves the lab and withstands multiple users. An institution planning a course schedule or a competition calendar should request those four values in writing before ordering. If delivery is needed today, the Unitree G1 is a similar size, ships with a Jetson Orin and can be ordered in Turkey with warranty and service.
