The Product's Current Status
Fourier has shifted product focus to the third-generation GR-3 and the wheeled GRW. The GR-2 product page has been removed from the manufacturer's site while the brochure remains in the download centre. That means the model sits at an advanced point in its life cycle. If you are planning a new project this belongs in your schedule and spare-parts plan; the GR-3 or models deliverable today are the alternatives to weigh.

Figures come from Fourier's published GR-2 product brochure. The brochure's body text refers to peak torque "exceeding 380 N·m" while the specification table and diagram state 436 N·m.
Who It Is For: Manipulation Research
The GR-2's hardware choices point to grasping and manipulation research. The FSA 2.0's dual encoder makes post-reducer backlash visible to the control loop through two separate measurements, one on the motor side and one on the output; choosing 24-bit resolution for the arm reflects that force control matters more in manipulation than in walking. The 12-DoF hand measures contact force through six array-type sensors in the fingers and adjusts its grip in real time: the same force cannot be applied to a cardboard box and a glass. On the software side, an open hardware interface, support for ROS, MuJoCo and NVIDIA Isaac Lab, and an Ubuntu 20.04 base suit university and R&D use. Approximately two hours of runtime is reasonable for a laboratory session but short for a field shift.
