Fourier GR-3 Price and Purchasing: Which Edition to Buy

The Fourier GR-3 is Fourier's third generation in humanoid robotics: 165 cm tall, a 71 kg body, a 5.5 km/h walking speed, three hours of runtime, a 3 kg single-arm load and 55 degrees of freedom. What sets it apart is not mobility but its perception layer: 31 pressure sensors across the body, a four-microphone array and a stereo-depth camera merge into a single real-time interaction engine. It comes in three configurations.

Figures come from the configurable specification table on the GR-3 Series product page. The product page also introduces the GR-3C with a Lidar module while the table marks LiDAR only on the Ultra row, so a LiDAR requirement should be confirmed at order time.

Who It Is For: Care and Interaction

The GR-3's hardware choices point to a care and wellness companionship platform. Thirty-one pressure sensors across the body (16 on the head, 15 on the torso) detect touch in real time; the Alcantara surface and the foam beneath spread contact across an area rather than saturating a single point. The four-microphone array cancels echo and localises the sound source, and the robot turns to the speaker with synchronized eye contact. Three waist axes let the torso bend and rotate with the feet planted, which is what makes reaching a seated person from the side possible. Single-arm capacity, however, is 3 kg; care work requiring lifting and transfer is outside this body's scope.

The GRW for Work That Needs Load

If the work involves physical load, the same manufacturer's wheeled GRW is a better base: it carries 16 kg with both arms, adjusts between 1160 and 1650 mm in height, reaches a 2000 mm working height and runs for four hours. Because a wheeled base frees the balance budget, up to 500 N·m of peak torque can go to manipulation; the price is that it cannot climb stairs and is limited to a 10-degree gradeability.
