Fourier GR-1 Price and Current Status: What to Buy Instead

The Fourier GR-1 is the first humanoid robot Fourier developed and the starting point of the GRx series: 165 cm tall, a body of approximately 55 kg, 32 body degrees of freedom, a 5 km/h walking speed and 230 N·m peak joint torque. Because Fourier has shifted product focus to the third-generation GR-3 and the wheeled GRW, the GR-1 product page has been removed from the manufacturer's site.

Can the Fourier GR-1 Still Be Bought?

The GR-1 product page has been removed from Fourier's site and the brochure is no longer listed in the download centre; the model is at the end of its life cycle. Fourier's current humanoid focus is the GR-3 and the wheeled GRW. If you have a specific GR-1 requirement you can reach us through the contact form, but for a new project we suggest evaluating the current models or the alternatives deliverable today.

All four editions share a 165 cm height and 32 body degrees of freedom. The difference is the end-effector and the body revision.

What Changed Between Generations

On the GR-1 the waist has three axes, the head three, and the body totals 32. On the second-generation GR-2 the waist drops to one and the head to two, bringing the total to 29. This is not a regression but a choice: a three-axis waist raises control complexity and mass at the body's most critical point. The freed budget moved to the hand; with the 12-DoF dexterous hand the GR-2 reaches 53 total actuators. Peak torque also rises from 230 N·m to 436 N·m and the FSA 2.0 brings a second encoder: in the first generation's single-encoder arrangement, backlash after the reducer stayed invisible to the control loop. The third-generation GR-3 then changes direction entirely and invests in the perception layer: 55 degrees of freedom, 31 pressure sensors and an Alcantara surface.
