What Was Announced?
Unitree's post is a preview: two capability measurements and a development timeframe. Here is everything the post contained:

It is worth naming what is absent from that list: a model name (Superman is a codename), height and weight, drivetrain details, battery and runtime, price, release date and sales regions. None of these were disclosed.
The company also says the machine has significant room for improvement in the coming months — these figures are not final, they represent an early stage of development.
What Does 12.66 m/s Mean?
Converted, that is 45.6 km/h. For reference: during Usain Bolt's 9.58-second 100 m world record in 2009, his peak speed was measured at roughly 12.27 m/s (≈ 44.2 km/h) — the value commonly reported in biomechanical analyses, reached between the 60 and 80 m marks. His average speed across the 100 m was 10.44 m/s (37.6 km/h).
So the stated 12.66 m/s exceeds the instantaneous peak speed of the fastest human on record. Unitree's claim of surpassing human running speed records rests on this comparison.
One caveat: the human record is a measurement taken in an official race, on a standard track, over a full distance. A robot's instantaneous top speed depends on test conditions — surface, distance, repeatability and duration — none of which were stated in the post. The two are not directly equivalent measurements.
Why Does the 0.85 m Leg Matter?
Listing leg length alongside speed is not incidental. In a running legged system, speed is roughly stride length × stride frequency. Stride length is bounded by leg length, so reaching high speed on short legs demands a high stride frequency.
At 0.85 m, the leg is shorter than an adult human's. Hitting 12.66 m/s at that scale means the actuators sustain very high torque and velocity together, and that the control loop holds that frequency stably. That is where the technical weight of the number sits — not in the absolute speed, but in achieving it at this body size.
The same logic applies to the jump: clearing 2 m from a standstill is a vertical displacement of more than twice the leg length, which points to high explosive power density.
Can You Buy This Robot?
No. Superman is a preview. Unitree has not announced it as a product, published a spec sheet, or given a price or release date. There is no sales, order or pre-order channel.

For an organisation that needs a humanoid robot now, the right question is not "when does Superman arrive" but "which currently available model does my job". The next section covers that.

The mobility Superman previews continues a line already running in Unitree's humanoid range. Two models can be supplied in Turkey today:
