Overview
D1 is a fully modular embodied intelligent robot developed by Direct Drive Technology. A single module weighs 24.3 kg and reaches 2 m/s in bipedal mode; when two modules dock, the 48.5 kg quadruped structure reaches 3.2 m/s. It carries 80 kg standing and more than 100 kg prone. The 43.2 V 9 Ah (388.8 Wh) battery provides at least 5 hours of no-load runtime and up to 25 km of range; charging takes under 2 hours. The documented maximum obstacle height is 70 cm, with a recommended operating obstacle of 50 cm. Ubuntu 22.04 and ROS 2 run on an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8 GB; through 2 × USB-C, 1 × Ethernet and a charging port, a robotic arm, depth camera, LiDAR and large wheel modules can be added. Use cases: embodied AI and robotics R&D labs, security patrol and inspection routes, short-distance delivery and logistics experiments, emergency rescue and field robotics testing, robotics filming, demonstration and multi-locomotion research.
Fully Modular Structure
The manufacturer positions D1 as the world's first fully modular embodied intelligent robot. A single module runs in bipedal mode at 24.3 kg; when two modules dock, they form a 48.5 kg quadruped structure. Speeds are 2 m/s and 3.2 m/s in the undocked and docked locomotion modes respectively.
High Payload Capacity
It carries 80 kg standing and more than 100 kg in the prone position. This capacity leaves room for add-on modules such as a robotic arm, LiDAR and a depth camera, as well as short-distance logistics experiments.

Runtime and Range
The 43.2 V 9 Ah (388.8 Wh) battery provides at least 5 hours of no-load runtime and up to 25 km of range. Charging takes under 2 hours.

Obstacle Capability
The documented maximum obstacle height is 70 cm; the manufacturer recommends a 50 cm operating obstacle for safer evaluation. It is designed for multi-locomotion testing.

ROS 2 and Expansion
Ubuntu 22.04 and ROS 2 run on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8 GB. Through 2 × USB-C, 1 × Ethernet and a charging port, a robotic arm, depth camera, LiDAR and large wheel modules can be added; software is updated via OTA.
